Courts to be Equipped with Information Terminals for People with Disabilities
On June 5, the Council of Judges of Ukraine unanimously voted in favor of equipping the courts with informational self-service terminals.
This was reported by a correspondent of Human Rights Information Center.
This innovation will improve access to justice for people with disabilities and integrate modern information technologies with judicial work. This is a part of a program called “The right to a fair trial for persons with disabilities,” and the Development Strategy of the Judicial System in Ukraine for 2015 – 2020, human rights advocates say.
The terminals will automate the work of the courts and save time for every day citizens using judicial services, judges, and court staff. Participants of hearings will have 24/7 access to be able to automatically calculate and pay court fees, administrative penalties, and so on, and also receive a bank receipt.
People with disabilities will be able to get the necessary information through the terminals, including samples of legal documents.
The installation of the appropriate terminals in Kyiv and the surrounding region is planned by August 1, 2015 and in all courts of general jurisdiction before December 1, 2016.
