Avdiivka left without electricity due to shelling again

Residents of Avdiivka left without electricity and water supply because of shelling.

As reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

“On February 18, as a result of armed hostilities high-voltage power line was damaged. Thereby, Avdiivka (population of about 22,000) is left without electricity supply”, – said in a statement.

State Emergency Service also added that heat in the city is supplied by coke plant of Avdiivka. The temperature of 20-25 degrees is maintained indoors.

Pavlo Zhebrivskyi, the Head of the Donetsk regional military and civil administration, said that 12 high-power generators will be sent to city.

“At night State Emergency Service of Ukraine reconnected Central City Hospital of Avdiivka to a more powerful generator (40 kW). Hospital is working as normal”, – he said.

According to him, electricians and sappers are ready to repair power lines, however, Russian side in Joint Center on Control and Coordination has not given written guarantees of ceasefire.

“Coordination Center is also working on restoring communication in Avdiivka. Both mobile and stationary. We contacted Kyivstar and MTS operators in order to restore signal in the city in short term”, – said Pavlo Zhebrivskyi.

State Emergency Service of Ukraine is deploying warming centers.

DTEK Donetskoblenergo reported that 11 populated centers are left without electricity supply due to armed hostilities.

On February 17, the death of one civilian and injuries of two others as a result of the shelling of residential areas of Avdiivka were reported.
