At least five killed, 17 injured in Russian overnight strikes on Kharkiv, Sumy and Kyiv regions (updated)

As a result of Russian shelling on the night of April 3, 2026, in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv regions, it is known that five people were killed and civilians were injured, as well as destruction left behind, according to the Oblasts Military Administrations and the State Emergency Service (SES).

In total, Russians killed three civilians in Sumy Oblast. 

Head of the Sumy Oblast Military Administration Oleh Hryhorov reported that a civilian man was killed in the Velyka Pysarivka hromada as a result of a Russian attack on a civilian car. Also, the Russian occupiers attacked a walk-behind tractor (motoblock) in the Bilopillia hromada with a drone, as a result of which a man was killed as well, and another sustained injuries.

In Sumy, as a result of morning attacks by Russian UAVs, six people were injured, among them a 17-year-old girl, Hryhorov wrote.

This morning, the Russians struck Shostka with four guided aerial bombs. Private residential houses and a high-rise building were attacked. It is known about a deceased 59-year-old woman in the Shostka “hromada,” a local government area that includes one or more nearby settlements, and two more victims who are relatives.

In the Kharkiv region, Kharkiv was under the enemy’s sight. As a result, there is destruction in the Osnovianskyi, Kyivskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi Districts, and the number of victims as of the morning reached five, including an infant.

At the time of writing, the news, the Russian attack had not ended, so air defense was in effect in Kyiv and Odesa Oblasts. There were no prompt reports on the consequences from there.

In addition, Russia launched strikes with missiles and drones on the Kyiv Oblast. Currently, one deceased person and one wounded person are known.

At 11:56 a.m., the all-clear for the air raid alert was announced in Bila Tserkva, Vyshhorod, Bucha, and Obukhiv Districts. At the same time, the alert remains ongoing in the Boryspil and Brovary districts. 

At 12:27, the SES clarified that the Obukhiv, Bucha, and Fastiv districts came under attack. In the Bucha District, one person died; in the Fastiv District, another person was injured. 

In the Obukhiv district, a hit on a residential high-rise building was recorded; there were no casualties. In the village of Kryukivshchyna, the occupiers damaged the roof of a 5-story building. Operational services are working at the scenes.

Apart from this, Russian forces conducted a combined missile and drone strike on Zhytomyr Oblast on April 3, killing one person and injuring four, who have been rescued from under rubble, according to Vitalii Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Oblast Military Administration. 

Russians damaged 15 residential buildings in this Oblast.

Search-and-rescue operations, firefighting efforts, and the cleanup of the attack’s aftermath are ongoing.
