MP of Ukraine Iryna Herashchenko, the representative of Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup within the Trilateral Contact Group, highlights the need for restoring the Ukrainian courts in the occupied territories.

Amnesty? The Ukrainian courts should restore their activities in the occupied territories (and the Parliament plays the key role in making decision on the amnesty law while Minsk is a platform for discussion). There are also serious crimes that do not fall under the amnesty,” Herashchenko posted on Facebook before the start of the negotiations of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk.

According to her, the Russian troops and equipment should be withdrawn from Ukraine and the elections in eastern Ukraine should take place only under the Ukrainian legislation, OSCE monitoring and after disarmament.

As reported, human rights activist Kostiantyn Reutsky from Postup Luhansk center believes that the amnesty for people, who have committed serious crimes, is impossible as it will set a time bomb under the foundation of the rule of law.

Earlier, Iryna Herashchenko stated that the amnesty in Donbas is possible only after the liberation of all Ukrainian hostages. According to her, the illegal armed formations in eastern Ukraine hold 139 people captive. 762 people are considered gone missing.
