Ukrainian human rights defenders who were detained at administrative border with Crimea are released

Ukrainian human rights defenders Olga Skrypnyk and Volodymyr Chekrygin are already on the territory under Ukraine’s control.

As reported by Bohdan Kryklyvenko, Head of the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, on his Facebook page.

After annexation, Olga Skrypnyk moved from Crimea to mainland Ukraine

“It is all over. All three of them are already at Kalanchak checkpoint, this is a checkpoint under the control of Ukrainian border guards. Thanks to everyone involved”, – he said.

As a reminder, on March 13, Ukrainian human rights defenders were detained at the Kalanchak checkpoint at the administrative border with Crimea and mainland Ukraine.

Olga Skrypnyk is a human rights defender, Coordinator of the Crimean Human Rights Group. She works at the Center for Civic Education “Almenda”.

After the annexation of the peninsula, FSB are regularly conducting searches and interrogations, as well as detains journalists, activists, public figures and representatives of the Crimean Tatar population. Human rights defenders titled this as “fighting dissent”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed concern over the persecution of Ukrainian citizens in the annexed Crimea and called for an end to putting pressure.
