School and stadium shelled in Avdiivka. Two people died – Zhebrivskyi

In the evening on February 2, illegal armed group of Donetsk shelled Avdiivka. School and stadium, where warming centers and points of humanitarian aid are located, were under fire.

As reported by Pavlo Zhebrivskyi, the Head of the Donetsk regional military and civil administration, on his Facebook page.

According to him, two people died from the shelling and two were injured.

“Injured woman was found near the shelled school of general education №2. She was hospitalized. However, she died from the injuries. This is the second deceased in Avdiivka in the last hour”, – he wrote. Pavlo Zhebrivskyi also reported about the death of the driver of State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU).

The Chief of the Avdiivka Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and foreign journalist were injured.

“Dmytro Treteykin, the Chief of the State Fire and Salvage Unit №15 of the State Institution of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and Lieutenant-Colonel of the State Civil Defense, received a stomach injury and is currently in the intensive care. Gorban Serhiy Volodymyrovych, the driver of the heavy rescue team, has, unfortunately, died”, – as reported by Mykola Chechetkin, the Head of the State Security Service of Ukraine, on his Facebook page.

“British photographer Christopher Nunn suffered an injury during an attack of Russian-occupational troops on Avdiivka on February 2. He was taken to the 66th military hospital with an injury to the left eye; he was examined and transferred to Mechnikov Regional Clinical Hospital in the city of Dnipro where he was given professional medical attention”, – reported the press center of ATO.

Earlier the headquarters of ATO reported the deaths of two Ukrainian soldiers and injuries of nine as a result of the shelling on Thursday. ATO forces reported that illegal armed group used the BM-21 Grad system near Avdiivka.

“Tanks, mortars, grenade launchers and small arms were firing almost continuously for the whole day”, – added in the ATO headquarters.

As a reminder, on January 29, situation in Avdiivka escalated. On February 1, illegal armed group of Donetsk partially ceased fire in accordance with the agreements on the regime of ceasefire and in the afternoon of the same day violated the regime and fired on the team of electricians. Therefore, repairers have not reached the place of possible break of the electrotransmission line.         

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that the situation in eastern Ukraine escalated due to the “continued offensive operations with the purpose of carrying a position of militants” of the Ukrainian army.

Whereby, Oleksandr Motuzyanik, the Speaker of the Defense Ministry, in the BBC commentary reported that Ukrainian military are not shelling using the heavy weapons and artillery.
