Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko was charged with espionage by Russian investigation.

His lawyer Mark Feygin told TACC

“He was charged. The investigator continues to draw a plot”, – said the lawyer.

According to Feygin, Sushchenko does not plan to testify on Friday as a defendant, because he did not have an opportunity to talk to the lawyer and to form a position.

Sushenko does not acknowledge the guilt.

Feygin hopes to visit him on Monday, wrote the lawyer on his Twitter.

The correspondent of the press agency “Ukrinform” in France Roman Sushchenko was illegally arrested in Moscow on September 30. On October 2, Russian media informed that he is in “Lefortovo” and accused of an “espionage”.

On October 1, the Lefortovo court of Moscow arrested him for 2 months till November 30.

The journalist has been working in the “Ukrinform” since 2002, and as a correspondent in France since 2010. His lawyer saw him only once on Thursday for 15 minutes.

Ukrainian civil organizations believe that the arrest of the journalist is an attack on the freedom of speech and call on the Ukrainian government and international society to protect Ukrainian prisoners in Russia and in the occupied Crimea.
