What: “Diversity in Ukraine – from music to human rights”: campaign presentation and chat with the campaign heroes and heroines
Since this year’s motto of the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv is “Celebrate Diversity”, we asked a trans girl, people with disabilities, a displaced person, a Roma and a girl born with HIV what they think it means to celebrate diversity. They expressed their thoughts in a video clip which will be presented during the press briefing.
How is celebrating diversity different on paper and in real life? What are the problems that different groups in society are faced with? What can be done to reduce discrimination? We will discuss these questions with the heroes and heroines of our campaign.
We will also hand out short info packs with overview of most common problems for discriminated groups and topics that would interest journalists working on social issues.
The people who shared their views in our video will speak about the importance of mutual respect and real celebration of diversity:
- Yana Panfilova, founder of Teenergizer project (living with HIV)
- Roman Zimenko, student, activist (ethnic Roma)
- Human rights experts
