Ukraine did not receive a warning from partners about a Russian strike on Kyiv on 12 October 2026 using five ballistic missiles, which hit civilian infrastructure, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on X.

“Unfortunately, we received no early warning from our partners about this strike. Intelligence on Russian ballistic missile launches helps save lives, and this is one of the most critical issues. This is precisely what helps prevent people from being killed – when there is an early warning about ballistic missiles,” the President said.

Zelenskyy did not specify why the warning was not received and from which specific partners Ukraine expected information.

To provide background, Russia attacked Kyiv with five missiles flying on a ballistic trajectory at 22:10 on 12 October, Ukraine’s Air Force reported. Radar systems detected the targets directly during the attack. No information was received regarding launches from Russian territory.

US president Donald Trump has not secured an end to Russia’s war within 24 hours of taking office, as he had promised. Furthermore, numerous Ukrainian and international experts point out that the U.S., as a guarantor state under the Budapest Memorandum, is pressuring Kyiv into capitulation.
