In the night, Russia killed and injured people in shelling attacks in Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and the Kyiv region

At least three people were killed and six wounded in Russian shelling across Kyiv Oblast, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy on the night of September 22, 2025, according to the National Police, the State Emergency Service (SES), and local authorities.

 

During the night, the Russian army launched more than 140 drones at Ukraine, most of which were shot down by the Ukrainian Air Force. The military reported that the drones hit seven locations.

By morning, three people were reported dead and four injured in Zaporizhzhia. Civilian infrastructure, residential buildings, and cars were destroyed in the city, and fires broke out in various places. The Russian military launched at least 10 guided bombs at the regional center.

 

“As a result of the attack, three people died: two women, ages 40 and 79, and a 77-year-old man,” the service said. “In addition, two boys, ages 20 and 17, sustained injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized,” the SES reported.

SES psychologists provided assistance to five people.

In the Kyiv region, a civilian man was injured in a Russian drone attack, and residences caught fire in several areas.

In Sumy, Russian shelling damaged an educational institution and injured a civilian, a security guard at the enterprise.

A day earlier, Russians wounded three civilians in Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kherson regions.
