The Ukrainians have filed six thousand applications for the positions of local prosecutors.

This was announced by Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine David Sakvarelidze, LIGABusinessInform Ukrainian media outlet reports.

According to him, most of applicants do not have experience of work in the prosecutor’s office.

“There will be 178 local prosecutor’s offices instead of currently operating 639 city district and inter-district prosecutor’s offices. The competition was announced for the positions of local prosecutors and their deputies,” the Deputy Prosecutor General noted.

The competition winners will take up 700 positions by December this year. Thus, the first stage of the prosecutor’s offices reform will be completed. The second stage refers to the level of regional prosecutor’s offices, while the third deals with the reform of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.

As David Sakvarelidze noted, the applicants will pass tests in several stages. The first stage, the knowledge of Ukrainian legislation, will start on September 5 in five regional centers.

The employees of the local prosecutor’s offices, who will be qualified, will be up for a higher salary.

The budget of prosecutor’s offices will be increased by several times. It’s an integral component of the system’s smooth work and minimization of corruption risks. Those prosecutors, who will be qualified, will receive the adequate salaries. It will be twofold, threefold, fourfold increase,” David Sakvarelidze promised.
