Menorah monument set on fire at Babi Yar memorial park in Kyiv
On the eve of the Jewish New Year, the unknown vandals desecrated the monument at the Babi Yar memorial park dedicated to possibly largest shooting massacre during the Holocaust.
As the website of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress reports, between 02:00 and 03:00 on September 13, on the eve of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year), the Menorah monument was once again desecrated in the territory of the “Babi Yar” Kyiv State Historical and Memorial Preserve.
The unknown vandals besieged the memorial with tires, doused them with inflammable mixture and set them on fire. A watchman of the nearby temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church noticed the fire and put it out.
This is the sixth case of vandalism against the Menorah monument since the beginning of this year.
As a reminder, the memorial to Holocaust victims in Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region, Ukraine, was desecrated in the same way three weeks earlier.
