Anti-Semitism flourishes in ‘DPR’, ‘LPR’
The leaders of the self-proclaimed republics use anti-Semitism in the propaganda rhetoric.
Head of the National Minority Rights Monitoring Group Vyacheslav Likhachev said this in an interview with the Ukraine’s Public Radio.
According to him, the anti-Semitism is the systemic part of the state ideology in the territory of the puppet regimes of “DRP” and “LPR”. It is used in the propaganda rhetoric by the leaders of the puppet regimes, widely used in the debate between the rival illegal armed groups to discredit the leaders of the opponents.
“Both Plotnitsky and Zakharchenko quite actively used the anti-Semitic rhetoric at the press conference in Donetsk. Why is this important for them? It is important because they use the anti-Semitic rhetoric to discredit the Ukrainian leadership because they interpret the democratic leaders of Ukraine as the Jews by birth using this as the basis for formation of the negative image of the effective Ukrainian government,” Likhachev said.
He also noted that the attitude to the internally displaced persons was at first ambiguous and negative in Ukraine, which could lead to serious internal problems. However, now this problem is no longer so acute.
“When people live together, they are no longer affected by the demonized image, they start to see the real people with their needs and unique abilities,” the expert said.
As a reminder, according to the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group, self-proclaimed head of the “DPR” Oleksandr Zakharchenko in April initiated the law on the state religion in the “DPR”. It stipulates that the big sums of donation for construction of temples should be coordinated with the government agencies, and only the Orthodox believers can be appointed as the government officials. The human rights activists believe that this law violates the right to freedom of conscience and religion.
