Starting today, the investigation into the crimes against Maidan, the corruption cases and the cases over sanctions list is completely blocked.

MP Serhiy Leshchenko posted this on his Facebook page.

The State Bureau of Investigation should have assumed the authority to investigate these crimes on March 1, but it was not established.

According to the MP, the courts now refuse to consider the motions over these cases filed by the investigators referring to their lack of authority.

As reported, the human rights activists and officials earlier stated about the possible collapse of the investigation. In particular, Head of the Special Investigations Department at the Prosecutor General’s Office Serhiy Horbatiuk said that the investigation into a number of cases could actually stop as the bureau existed only on paper.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced that the first meeting of the competition commission, which would select the director of the bureau, would be held today.

The President signed the law on the State Bureau of Investigation on January 14. The Verkhovna Rada passed it in November last year.
