Cleansing of prosecutor’s office: All prosecutors already submit integrity questionnaires

All Ukrainian prosecutors have already submitted the integrity questionnaires, which can be found on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, section “Secret integrity check.” In addition, more than 500 people attached to the questionnaires their tax returns and tax returns of their family members for 2015.

Petro Shkutiak, the head of the internal security working group of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine to check the prosecutors of central and local departments, said this on the air of Hromadske Radio.

According to him, the relevant order of the Justice Ministry has already been registered and there is a regulatory framework to check the integrity – an article of the Law of Ukraine “On Prosecutor’s Office.”

The very integrity questionnaire includes the questions about compliance of income, lifestyle, veracity of a tax return, whether they have used their position to influence the decisions of other government bodies or business entities.

He added that people could inform about dishonesty of the prosecutors by sending letters with facts confirming their information.

When asked whether there have been complaints about the unreliability of the data provided in the questionnaire, Shkutiak noted that “there have been some signals already and they will be investigated into.”

“Unfortunately, we still can not get the quality verified information from the fiscal service. However, some people have already been dismissed: the most infamous employees wrote resignation letters which were approved,” Shkutiak said.

He added that so far people did not believe that the provided information was used in the internal checks.

“They will make sure of it when the first people will be dismissed. In addition, we get not much quality information so we call on NGOs and people to prepare it and submit it to us,” Shkutiak summed up.
