Internet cut off in northern Crimea
The Internet was cut off “for security reasons” in the area of Armiansk town in northern Crimea.
So-called “Senator from Crimea”, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security Olga Kovitidi said this on the air of Dozhd Russian TV channel.
This happened after the shootout on the administrative border with the mainland Ukraine and the FSB’s statement about “the detention of suspects in the preparation of a terrorist attack on the peninsula.”
“[Internet was cut off] for safety reasons. This is done for the special services … to avoid penetration … These measures are needed primarily for security reasons, and people understand this,” Kovitidi said.
The day before, Krymtelekom provides reported on failures of Internet connection in the northern regions of Crimea because of “engineering works”. The problems with Internet, in particular, were reported on by users from Dzhankoi, Armiansk, Krasnoperekopsk, Krasnogvardeyskoe, Pervomayskoye and Razdolnoye areas.
As a reminder, the Russian Federal Security Service accused the Defence Ministry of Ukraine of the preparation of terrorist acts in the annexed Crimea.
