On February 26 “March of Solidarity. Crimea – UA” will be held in Kyiv

On February 27, “March of Solidarity. Crimea – UA” will be conducted in Kyiv on Heroyiv Nebesnoyi Sotni Alley (between Independence Square and Institutskaya Street). March will be held in solidarity with the Crimean Tatar people, Ukrainians and people of other nationalities, who are residing in the temporary Russian-occupied Crimea, and are keeping their dignity and allegiance to Ukraine.

The organizers of the march are Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Crimean Tatar Resource Center, NGO “AutoMaidan Kyiv”, NGO “Liberal Democratic League of Ukraine”, Social Movement “Captives”, NGO “Crimean Tatars Community”, “Patriots of Ukraine Worldwide Movement”, NGO “Crimean Homeland”, “CrimeaSOS” and others.

“Together we will carry state flags of Ukraine and national flags of Crimean Tatars, honor the memory of fellow citizens killed by Russian invaders, raise the portraits of the abducted compatriots and political prisoners, who were taken hostage by the FSB of the Russian Federation”, – said the organizers.

They invite everyone to join on February 26 at 2pm on Heroyiv Nebesnoyi Sotni Alley (in front of the hotel “Ukraine”), where the March of Solidarity will begin.

Participants of the event will follow the route: Heroyiv Nebesnoyi Sotni Alley – Institutskaya Street – Shovkovychna Street – Hrushevskoho Street – European Square – Khreschatyk Street – Independence Square.

Organizers remind that on February 26, 2014, about 15 thousand Crimean Tatars, thousands of Ukrainians and residents of Crimea of other nationalities came to the Verkhovna Rada of the Crimea, on the call of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, and have not allowed the pro-Russian deputies to adopt unconstitutional decisions to separate Crimea from Ukraine.

On this day, civil society of Crimea by peaceful and legal means defended the territorial integrity of Ukraine, by not allowing Russia and its agents in Crimea to hold an extraordinary session to simulate supposedly voluntary “transition” of the Crimea to Russia. Therefore, February 26 is a day of Crimean resistance.

However, in the morning of February 27, 2014, Putin introduced heavy-handed approach of usurpation of Crimea. Subsequently, all the streets of cities and main roads of the peninsula were filled with Russian troops. They captured administrative buildings, besieged garrisons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, seized seaports and airports.

The mass non-violent resistance of the residents of Crimea, unfortunately, could not prevent the temporary occupation of the Crimea, which lasts for 3 years. Crimean Tatar people – the indigenous people of Crimea, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians and citizens of other nationalities on the peninsula, who are still loyal to the Ukrainian state, are hostages of the Russian invaders.

“They retain their dignity and are waiting for our help! They believe in Ukraine and hope for quickest restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. They hate the Russian occupiers and dream of the day when the last Russian invader leaves Crimea!”, – said the organizers of the march.
