Defendant in the “Hizb ut-Tahrir case” Dzhepparov placed in punitive cell for 25 days
In the occupied Simferopol, Arsen Dzhepparov, defendant of the Yalta “Hizb ut-Tahrir case”, placed in punitive cell for 25 days.
As reported by CrimeaSOS, this was stated by his lawyer Dzhemil Temishev.
According to him, Dzhepparov was put in a punitive cell allegedly for failure to open the door to his cell under the demand of the SIZO (pre-trial detention center) administration.
“Their cell is one of the smallest in the remand prison. It’s impossible to even walk there. If one person stands up, the second one will not manage to squeeze in. That is why the door to the cell opens badly”, – said the lawyer.
Dzhepparov has been held in the punitive cell for the fourth day.
“He was undergoing therapy when they took him. He was wearing socks and a shirt when they took him. He stood in the cold disciplinary cell for the whole night”, – added the lawyer.
As a reminder, Arsen Dzhepparov is one of the defendants of the Yalta “Hizb ut-Tahrir case”. He, along with other defendants of the case Emir-Useyin Kuku, Vadym Siruk, Refat Alimov and Muslim Aliyev, were detained in April 2016. A week ago, the court in the closed regime extended the term of their arrest for additional two months.
It has become known in April that Dzhepparov, who is located in the Simferopol SIZO, is in need of urgent surgery. At the same time, the SIZO administration refuses to provide him with the necessary medical assistance.
“Currently Arsen Dzhepparov is in very grave condition. He had a fistula on his neck, but since then it has inflamed. He does not hear at all in his left ear. We repeatedly appealed to the administration of Simferopol SIZO with a demand to conduct a surgical intervention. Thus far, no measures were taken… There is a threat to his life. Personally, I regard the refusal of assistance not as a means of exerting pressure on my client, but as a basic torture”, – said Temishev.
