Media hardly cover needs of women in ATO area – report
The journalists almost do not cover the specific problems and needs of female soldiers in the ATO area of the.
This is stated in the report “Invisible Battalion”, presented by the Ukrainian Women’s Foundation.
“The needs of women participating in the ATO are hardly discussed in the media. None of the articles or videos mention the lack of uniform, hygiene products, specialized health care services for women. The requirements to housing for women are most often mentioned,” reads the report.
According to the report, the media highlight three images of female military officers: a woman warrior, who carries out combat missions on an equal basis with men, a thoughtful assistant, who provides services to men (cooking, maintenance, logistics, medical care), and a revolutionist, who introduces something new (pilot Nadiya Savchenko, volunteer Tetiana Rychkova, and head of air reconnaissance center Maria Berlinska).
