Twenty convicts from the Yenakiyevo colony No.52 have been transferred to the government-controlled territory of Ukraine.

As the Ombudsperson’s representative for NPM implementation Yuri Belousov said to the Human Rights Information Center correspondent, all the convicts transferred today are sentenced to life in prison. The selection for the transfer was carried out by the “DPR” representatives.

Head of the Secretariat of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Bohdan Kryklyvenko posted this information on his Facebook page.

The transfer took place with the participation of the Ombudsperson and the representatives of the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM).

According to Kryklyvenko, there is extremely difficult situation in the colony, which is located in the temporary uncontrolled territory, now: there is no heating, the dining room is destroyed, no medical assistance is provided.

The head of the Secretariat also noted that the convicts were to be evacuated a year ago, but the plans failed.

As a reminder, the Human Rights Information Center reported that the first transfer with the participation of the Ombudsperson and the NPM representatives took place on July 8. Then, nine convicts were transferred from the uncontrolled territory of Donetsk region to Ukraine.

Another 20 prisoners from Donetsk region were transferred on August 5. They were “transit prisoners”: they had to go to other places of detention from the Donetsk remand prison, but the beginning of the military conflict made their transfer impossible.
