Ukrainian lawmakers voted for the amendment, necessary to obtain EU-Ukraine visa-free regime.

The MPs approved the amendment to the Labour Code of Ukraine, which prohibits discrimination on grounds of race, religion, gender and sexual orientation (the bill No. 3442).  234 MPs voted “for.”

Yesterday, the bill No.3442-1, which contains “attitude towards sexual relations” among grounds for discrimination, was also registered. However, this bill is not considered today.

As reported, November 10, about 200 activists gathered near the building of the Parliament of Ukraine, demanding to pass the so-called “visa-free package” – ten laws within the framework of the Ukraine’s Action Plan on Visa Liberalization with the EU. On that day, the “anti-discrimination amendment” was voted down with only 206 votes “for”.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called on the Parliament to adopt the amendment to ban employment discrimination.
