The action of LGBT-activists against homophobia was disrupted in Kharkiv

In Kharkiv, 30 people in balaclavas disrupted the action against homophobia, which took place on May 17 at the Dvorets Brakosochetaniya. A brawl occurred.

On the International Day Against Homophobia, activists planned to hold action-performance for the rights of LGBT people and against discrimination.

Opponents of LGBT people came to the gathering place before the start of the action. The reporter of the publication notes that young people were aggressive. Many hid their faces, were in balaclavas or in wore medical masks on their faces.

Opponents of LGBT chanted “Glory to Ukraine”, “Traditional Motherland – great Ukraine”, were throwing green paint, stones, and according to preliminary data, used a pepper spray.

The National Police reports that young people used foul language and threatened the participants of the action.

“The patrol policemen, who guarded the order, warned about the inadmissibility of such actions and called for them to cease. In case of non-compliance, they would apply appropriate response measures against the offenders. This has not stopped the young people and they started throwing green paint and eggs at the participants of the action and patrol policemen”, – said in a statement of the National Police.

Activists hung a rainbow flag on the statue of a lion near the Dvorets Brakosochetaniya, but, before long, young people tore it down and burned it.

The police reports that two patrol officers were injured in the brawl. Doctors pre-diagnosed them with bruises of the parietal region of the head.

For participants of the conflict were brought to the Shevchenkovskiy District Police Department.

The fact of the event is included in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under part 2 of Article 345 (threats or violence against a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
