Ukraine bans Crimean cars with Russian number plates from entering mainland territory
Ukraine will not allow the Crimean cars registered under the Russian law to cross the administrative border with Crimea.
The Russian number plates on the Crimean cars are not valid, states the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
“Any documents, issued by the occupying power on the Crimean peninsula, are invalid. This also applies to the vehicle documents that have already been registered under the Russian legislation in Crimea. That is why these vehicles will not be allowed to cross the administrative border,” the Service states.
According to the border guards, the occupation authorities do not allow the cars with Ukrainian number plates to enter the mainland and selectively ban them from entering.
As reported, Russia passed a resolution requiring the Crimean residents to register vehicle number plates according to the Russian law in November last year. All the cars in Crimea must be re-registered and obtain Russian number plates until April 10. The Russian prosecutor’s office will hold liable those who refuse to do so.
