A court in Russia sentenced an ill Ukrainian pensioner Oleksiy Syzonovych to 12 years of imprisonment for allegedly preparing terrorist attacks in Rostov region.

As reported by the Ukrayinska Pravda (Ukrainian Truth) referring to the Interfax-Ukraine.

“The North Caucasus Regional Military Court of the Russian Federation sentenced a Ukrainian citizen Oleksiy Syzonovych, who is accused by the Russian investigation of preparing terrorist attacks in Rostov region, to 12 years in a strict-regime colony”, – said in a statement.

In addition, the Ukrainian is fined for 250 thousand rubles.

In particular, Syzonovych is convicted under Article 30 part 1, Article 205 part 2 (preparation of a terrorist act), Article 222.1 part 3 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or bearing of explosives or explosive devices) and Article 322 part 1 (illegal crossing of the State border of the Russian Federation) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The verdict completely corresponds to the demands of the State persecution.

At the same time, as the Directorate General for consular service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported to the Hromadske, the Ministry has not received information about the criminal proceedings against Syzonovych and accusations of planning a terrorist act in Rostov region. The MFA instructed the Consulate General of Ukraine in Rostov-on-Don to verify this information and to report on the state of this matter.

As reported by the media, Syzonovych is 61 years old, he is a pensioner and has problems with health. In addition to the accusation of preparing terrorist attacks in Rostov region, according to Russian investigators, he allegedly blew up trains on the territory of Luhansk region, which is controlled by the militants of ORLO (Certain areas of Luhansk region), was captured there by militants and a month later he was detained by Russian border guards.

At the same time, Russian investigators claim that Syzonovych created an organized group with an accomplice in Kyiv with purpose of carrying out terrorist acts in Russia and Ukraine. Syzonovych was allegedly collecting information about the objects of transport infrastructure and, having special knowledge in the field of explosives, was manufacturing various explosive devices. He has worked for 11 years at a mine in Ukraine as a blaster, where he acquired the relevant skills.

In addition, the investigation states that in 2016 Syzonovych was instructed to go to Kamensk-Shakhtinsky in Rostov region for the purpose of inspecting and photographing the local railroad station, as well as to determine the location to place the bomb. A terrorist attack was planned to be carried out at that railroad station.

Russian side claims that the Ukrainian was detained by Russian security officials in September 2016 during the alleged illegal crossing of the border and he has been in custody since then.
