Rally dedicated to Shevchenko’s birthday banned in Crimea
The occupying power in Simferopol, Crimea, banned the activists from holding the rallies dedicated to the anniversary of birthday of Ukrainian prominent poet Taras Shevchenko on March 9.
This was reported by Olena Popova, the representative of the Ukrainian cultural center in Crimea, Center for Investigative Journalism reports.
“As promised, we have been banned from holding the rally in honor of Shevchenko. The reason is the state of emergency. We will wait until it is cancelled and then will submit an application again,” she said.
As a reminder, the state of emergency was declared on the peninsula because of permanent blackouts. After the Ukrainian activists of the blockade of Crimea had blown up the power lines that supplied electricity to Crimea, no stable sources of electricity remained on the peninsula.
