The activists of several European countries have gone on a hunger strike to support Ukrainian pilot, MP Nadiya Savchenko.

The action “Freedom to Nadiya Savchenko – we are on hunger strike” is intended to express solidarity with the pilot imprisoned in Russia, Radio Liberty reports.

The initiative belongs to the members of the Council of Europe. Everyone can join it. As reported by the journalists, the action was quickly picked up by the social networks and public activists.

The main thing is to convey to Nadiya Savchenko that she is not alone, that people think about her, said Czech rapporteur Kristýna Zelienková.

The action, which aims to draw attention to the fate of other political prisoners, will last until the end of February.

As a reminder, Nadiya Savchenko is accused of the murder of two Russian journalists in Luhansk region on June 17, 2014 and illegally crossing of the Russian border under the guise of a refugee. Savchenko claims she was abducted by the “LPR” militants before the death of journalists and forcibly taken to the Russian Federation.

Savchenko has been on a hunger strike in protest against the extension of her arrest for two months already. She says she will go on a dry hunger strike after the sentence is delivered.
