Patriot, volunteer group that works on the release of war prisoners, calls on militants of the “DNR” to show an interview with journalist Stanislav Aseev to make sure that he is alive.

As reported by Radio Liberty.

As stated coordinator of the group Oleg Kotenko during the broadcast of Donbass.Realiii, three weeks ago the group received information that Aseev was severely beaten and that a doctor was called to him. According to the latest information, provided to the group by Russian-backed, Aseev’s health improved.

“We urge them to show him in the interview. That is, his confession or something else. The specifics do not matter, we just need to see that he is alive. Because there were cases of beatings that results in deaths”, – Kotenko said.

Earlier, Yegor Firsov, former Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, reported about the serious deterioration in the state journalist Stanislav Aseev’s health and that he was probably tortured.

As a reminder, Aseev, who worked for the Ukrainian service of the Radio Liberty and several other Ukrainian publications under the alias of Stanislav Vasin and was reporting about the daily life in the east of Ukraine, disappeared on June 2.

On July 15, Oleg Kotenko, head of Patriot, a volunteer group that works on the release of political prisoners in Ukraine, told independent broadcaster Hromadske Radio (Public Radio), that the separatists detained Aseev for his “pro-Ukrainian stance” and for “spreading information about the so-called “DNR”, which in militants’ opinion, is not true.”

On July 16, Yegor Firsov, Aseev’s friend and a former Ukrainian People’s Deputy, wrote on his blog in Ukrainska Pravda (Ukrainian Truth) that the separatists had charged the journalist with espionage and that if they convict him, he can be imprisoned for a term of up to 14 years, citing written confirmation provided to Aseev’s mother. Firsov also wrote that Aseev’s mother was allowed to see him in detention.
