The number of wounded in Kyiv due to the overnight drone attack has risen to 32 (updated)
Russians killed three people and injured at least 32 others in an overnight Russian air attack on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, the city’s mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said.
Two high-rise residential buildings were hit in the strikes, Vitali Klitschko said, adding in a Telegram post that six children were among the injured.
Among the fatalities is Anastasiia Masliy, a graduate of Kyiv-Pechersk Lyceum No. 171 “Leader” and her mother, as the school reported on its Facebook page.
Anastasiia MasliyThe Kyiv 24 TV channel showed an interview with a neighbor of the mother and her 19-year-old daughter, whose deaths were caused by toxic smoke during a fire caused by an enemy drone strike. According to the woman, medics who arrived at the scene tried to save the girl, but she died. Her mother could not be saved either.
The latest Russian bombardment comes as Moscow has stepped up attacks on civilian targets and energy infrastructure ahead of winter, with Ukrainian authorities saying nearly 1,200 drones have been launched in the past week alone.

Officials in Kyiv said the three people were killed when a drone struck a nine-story residential building in the Desnianskyi District to the north-west of the city, with 24 others injured in the same attack. In this building, the strike hit the second floor where Kyiv resident Yelyzaveta lives, Suspilne Kyiv public news broadcaster reported. She said the balcony of her fifth-floor apartment burned. Overall, the fire engulfed the balconies from the fourth to the seventh floors.
Yelyzaveta reported that immediately after the explosion, the glass flew out of her apartment, and smoke began filling the rooms. She, her husband, child, and dog could not leave the apartment on their own, so they waited for rescuers, breathing through wet towels.
“The smoke was very heavy, and everything flew out. It was very scary. Everything on the second, third, and fourth floors was completely burned. I don’t know what was inside our apartment, but we barely made it out,” the woman shared.
Damage was also reported to at least three other residential buildings in Kyiv. Seven people, including two children, are being treated in the hospital, officials said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has recently called on his allies to supply his armed forces with long-range weapons to continue the fight. However, he returned from a recent meeting at the White House and the subsequent EU summit empty-handed.
Trump said that talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin “don’t go anywhere” as he shelved plans for the two to meet in Budapest over the war in Ukraine, BBC News reported.
On his way to Asia over the weekend, Trump said he had a “great relationship” with Putin but that recent events had been “disappointing”, suggesting a meeting between the two was conditional on a peace deal being likely.
Trump has appeared increasingly frustrated with Russian conditions for bringing the war to a close, with a summit in Alaska in August failing to yield any tangible results.
The US president had previously said fresh sanctions on Moscow were contingent on European allies cutting their Russian energy imports. The EU has pledged to do so by 2028.
Zelensky has agreed to a US proposal to cease fighting along the current front lines so peace negotiations can begin — though this falls short of Russian demands that Ukrainian forces completely withdraw from the eastern Donbas region.
Earlier, Bohdan Bernatskyy, a member of the Sanctions Policy Working Group of the Crimean Platform Expert Network, revealed at the Third Parliamentary Summit in Latvia that over 1,300 Russian military companies and 2 million industrial workers continue to operate, many without international restrictions.
Ukraine urges the international community to unite to restore global security under the UN Charter and strengthen sanctions against Russia to enforce compliance with international law. Following Russia’s initial invasion in 2014, Ukraine has pursued the liberation of its territories within its internationally recognized 1991 borders while developing comprehensive reintegration strategies and policies for all liberated areas.
As is known, China, North Korea, India, and Brazil also assist Moscow in killing citizens of Ukraine in Russia’s war, including funding the Russian budget through trade.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated during a press conference in Brussels that China is not interested in Ukraine’s victory or Russia’s defeat.
“China is a very difficult question, really complicated. We do not have a permanent dialogue with Xi Jinping. We had some phone conversations, and he told me that he will not sell weapons. I know nothing about arms packages, but I know one thing: China helps Russia, does not help Ukraine, and is not interested in our victory or Russia losing,” the President said.
China said that it opposes recent US sanctions against two of Russia’s largest oil companies over Moscow’s war in Ukraine.
