128 Ukrainians still held captive by militants
128 Ukrainians are currently held captive by members of the illegal armed formations and Russia.
Advisor to the Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Yuri Tandyt said this in a commentary to Ukrinform news agency.
“128 people are on the list, which we submit [at the talks of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk] now. The list includes not only the people held captive in Donetsk and Luhansk but also those who stay in the territory of the Russian Federation,” Tandyt said.
He noted that the wounded in grave condition were among the captives.
According to the Advisor to SBU’s Chief, that is why the Ukrainian side and the representatives of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) insisted at the meeting in Minsk on Friday that the ICRC should have access to the captives to examine their condition at least.
However, the members of the illegal armed groups still refuse to allow the ICRC to visit the captives, Tandyt said.
