World community cannot protect Crimean Tatars from repressions – Chubarov
The international community cannot protect Crimean Tatars, who have been harassed by Russia on the occupied peninsula.
This was stated by MP of Ukraine, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov at the international conference in Kyiv, UNIAN news agency reports.
“The entire groups, particularly, the Crimean Tatar people, are subjected to the targeted repressive policy of the occupying power in the territory of the occupied Crimea now,” the chairman of the Mejlis said.
“Nowadays, the whole world witnesses how the Crimean Tatars are paying the price for their consistency, for their position, which fully coincides with the position of the international community, which is based on the international values, and at this point the international community cannot protect these people,” Chubarov stressed.
Chubarov stressed that the currently applied mechanisms did not give the result.
“When we talk about the tools that are applied by the international community, we should admit that they are ineffective in terms of protecting the people who are now being repressed,” Chubarov said.
As reported, leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev will tell the UN Security Council about the repressions against the Crimean Tatars.
