Court arrests ‘hired thug’ who attacked Euromaidan activists

Court arrested a man, suspected in the attempted murder of Euromaidan activists and preclusion of journalists activities.

This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office press service on Friday.

September 29, a civilian thug hired by Yanukovych’s regime was served a notice of suspicion of illegal obstruction of holding meetings, rallies and demonstrations with the use of physical violence, harassment of journalists for performing their professional duties and physical abuse on February 18, 2014 in the Lypska Street in Kyiv.

In addition, it was served a notice of suspicion of attempted murder of protesters in collusion by a group of individuals.

It is noted that the court ruled to take the attacker into custody on September 29, 2016.

According to Prosecutor General’s Office, following criminal investigations into committing crimes against protesters by the hired thugs, 14 civilians were served a notice of suspicion against, nine of whom are on the wanted list and  indictments against five persons had been sent to court for consideration on the merits.

Pre-trial investigation against the organizers and crime perpetrators is ongoing.
