The refusal to register the portal due to incomprehensible abbreviation “LGBT” is unfounded.

As the All-Ukrainian Charitable Organization “Fulcrum” website reports, the organization’s activists have won another lawsuit against the Justice Ministry of Ukraine concerning registration of the National LGBT portal of Ukraine as a news agency.

The portal was denied registration because of the fact that the Justice Ministry did not understand the meaning of the abbreviation “LGBT”. The panel of judges of the District Administrative Court of Kyiv noted in their decision that “the failure to provide a meaningful interpretation of an acronym of the news agency is not the ground for denial of state registration.”

In addition, the case materials contain no evidence of the spread of information undermining public morality by the National LGBT portal of Ukraine. Thus, the denial of registration of the information agency ‘National LGBT portal of Ukraine’ had no reasons,” reads the article.

The court ordered the Justice Ministry to consider the organization’s application for registration of the website.
