The Sovetsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don city in Russia refused to interrogate ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and former commander of Ukrainian internal troops Stanislav Shulyak via videoconference.

This was announced by assistant chairman of the Soviet District Court in Rostov-on-Don Artur Maslov on Friday, Interfax news agency reports.

“We received the court orders on conduct of interrogations of Yanukovych and Shulyak via videoconference. However, such interrogation is not possible: the court has no necessary technical equipment for videoconference,” he said.

In addition, the orders do not specify places of residence of Viktor Yanukovych and Stanislav Shulyak,” he added.

He said that the response to the orders had been sent to Kyiv.

Earlier, the Russian Justice Ministry sent to the Soviet District Court of Rostov-on-Don Ukraine’s request to question Yanukovych and Shuliak via video conference.

As a reminder, Yanukovych’s lawyer Vitaly Serdyuk said that Yanukovych was ready to be questioned via videoconference but insisted on face-to-face confrontation with President Petro Poroshenko.

The Justice Ministry of Ukraine sent several requests for interrogation of Yanukovych to Russia.

October 19, it became known that the documents were handed over to the Rostov court.
