Ukrainian movie about the deaf among top five films in US
Ukrainian drama The Tribe about deaf people entered the top five films of the year in the United States.
The U.S. National Board of Review named the winners of their prize yesterday. The experts also announced the list of the best films 2015, Ukraine’s Dovzhenko film studio reports in its statement.
The Tribe drama directed by Myroslav Slaboshpytsky entered the top five foreign films 2015. The movie’s box office sales reached about $150,000 in the American movie theaters.
Slaboshpytsky’s drama tells about the life of teenagers with hearing impairments in a boarding school. The leading roles were played by non-professional actors, who communicate in the sign language.
In Ukraine, it premiered on September 11, 2014.
The National Board of Review of Motion Pictures was founded in 1909. The organization unites movie critics, movie scholars, students, filmmakers.
