Second victim dies in hospital following Russian attack on central Kherson
The Kherson Oblast Military Administration reported that a 16-year-old boy who sustained injuries in the Russian attack on the central District of Kherson on April 17, 2025, has died in the hospital. This is the second death from the attack, which killed another man.

In total, nine people were injured throughout April 18 as a result of Russian aggression.
The Russians bombarded residential areas of the settlements in the Kherson Oblast, damaging three high-rise buildings and five houses. The attacks also damaged a granary, agricultural machinery and cars.
On April 17, in the Kherson Oblast, Russians killed two road service workers with a drone, according to the Head of the Kherson Regional Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin. The attack occurred near the settlement of Stiike. The Russian drone hit specialized equipment while repair work was being carried out.
“As a result of the strike, men aged 36 and 44 sustained fatal injuries. Sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased,” Prokudin wrote.
Additionally, according to Prokudin, three people were killed due to a Russian airstrike on the Central district of Kherson.
On the morning of April 16th, Russians shelled Kherson using aircraft and artillery. They killed one man and injured nine others, including a 15-year-old teenager. The Russian army personnel also damaged 20 multi-story buildings, two private houses, a sports facility, and two supermarkets that day.
On April 12 at around 16:00, Russian forces dropped explosives from a drone on a civilian car in the Dniprovskyy District of the city of Kherson, killing a man and injuring two people.
Prokudin informed the public that a 27-year-old man sustained fatal injuries as a result of explosives being dropped from a drone. Two additional victims, men aged 30 and 49, sustained blast injuries, contusions and shrapnel wounds. They are currently in the hospital in a moderate condition.
Roman Mrochko, Head of the Kherson City Military Administration, reported that the attacked car belonged to the team of the Spravzhni charity foundation.
On the morning of April 12, a medical facility in the Kherson Oblast came under Russian fire as well, leaving two people injured. In addition, an 86-year-old woman was killed in a Russian drone attack on the village of Bilozerka. The Russians dropped explosives from a UAV.
Patients and medical staff managed to reach the shelter in time. The strike injured two men, employees of a construction company carrying out repairs on the hospital’s premises.
Additionally, a 60-year-old man in Beryslav died after being injured in a Russian attack on April 9.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that on April 4, Russian forces launched an FPV drone directly at an energy facility—the Kherson thermal power plant.
According to the Ukrainian President, in total, 78 attack drones were launched over the past night alone, 56 of them Shaheds.
Zelenskyy stressed that such strikes could not be accidental, as the Russians know that these are energy facilities and that they must be protected from any attacks under the promises Russia made to the US side regarding the ceasefire arrangements.
“Every Russian promise ends with missiles or drones, bombs or artillery. Diplomacy means nothing to them. And that’s why pressure is needed – sufficient pressure on Russia so that they feel the consequences of every lie of theirs, every strike, every single day they take lives and prolong the war,” the President stated.
Roughly around 08:30 am on April 9, 2025, a Russian artillery shell killed a man in an attack on the settlement of Shyroka Balka in the Kherson Oblast. According to Prokudin, the shell hit a residential building.
Prokudin reported that the deceased man was around 82. This attack also injured two other people.
On April 7, Russian army personnel attacked a 40-year-old man with a drone in the Dniprovskyy District, causing him to sustain a mine-blast injury and a shrapnel wound to his leg.
At around 06:30 am on April 6, a Russian bombardment killed a man in the Dniprovskyy District of the city of Kherson.
On the morning of April 4, Russians struck a vehicle belonging to the NGO Buty Dobru na Khersonshchyniі , which helps evacuate civilians from dangerous areas.
Moreover, a Russian artillery strike killed two people and wounded four others in an attack on the center of Kherson on March 27. Among those injured were an ambulance crew evacuating a wounded man during a repeat Russian strike, according to Prokudin, Roman Mrochko, and the Kherson Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
The attack also caused a partial power outage in the city: officials have temporarily suspended trolleybus traffic.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland , which sees the continued Russian attacks on Ukraine and the death of civilians, has stated that Russia’s goal is continued war, not peace.
