The Russians launched a large-scale attack on the city of Kherson on the night of March 12-13, 2025, in which they killed a woman and injured a man.

Roman Mrochko, Head of the Kherson City Military Administration, reported a large-scale Russian attack on Kherson after 12:33 a.m. and added that “the attack on the city continues” at 12:55 a.m.

“Russian terrorists have killed another civilian in Kherson. A 42-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries during the shelling. The occupiers attacked a 60-year-old Kherson resident with a drone in the Dniprovskyi district. The man, who was in a car at the time of the attack, suffered shrapnel wounds to his back and lower limbs,” Mrochko wrote.

On March 13, Russians killed five civilians and wounded 13 in their attacks on the Donetsk region, according to local officials.

On March 8, Russian army personnel killed two residents of the Kherson Oblast when Russians dropped explosives from drones on Saturday.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Oblast State Administration, reported that at about 08:40 on Saturday morning, near Naddniprianske, the Russians attacked a civilian car with explosives dropped from a UAV. A 54-year-old man was fatally injured.

Later that day, at around 17:30, the Prokudin reported that a Russian drone attack had killed a 74-year-old citizen in Antonivka.

At around 11:00, on March 7, Russian forces shelled the village of Mykilske in Kherson Oblast with artillery, killing a 65-year-old man.

By way of background, in a news conference in Moscow, Russian ruler Vladimir Putin said he supports the idea of a ceasefire, but a ceasefire should “remove underlying causes of this crisis” and “secure peace.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says Putin’s response to the ceasefire proposal is “manipulative” and calls for more sanctions on Russia to force a peace deal.

In his daily evening address, Zelensky says Putin’s “preconditions” will not make a ceasefire possible, and “it’s only Russia that will delay things.”

“Of course, Putin is afraid to tell Trump directly that he wants to continue this war, that he wants to continue killing Ukrainians,” Zelenskyy added.

According to Zelenskyy, Putin “often does this. He doesn’t say ‘no’ directly, but does something that only delays things or makes normal decisions impossible.”

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, is in Moscow to discuss the US-backed ceasefire proposal with the Russian delegation.
