Russians killed a woman and injured 12 more civilians in Kharkiv
Russian Armed Forces attacked the Сity of Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs on the afternoon of May 27, 2024. They hit a civilian business, killing one person and injuring 12 in that attack.
According to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov on Telegram, the industrial zone of the city’s Kholodnohirskyi district has been hit. He also reported the strike occurred near residential buildings.
The Head of Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov added on Telegram that the Russians hit a civilian business with a guided aerial bomb, causing severe damage to production premises. The official also confirmed the death of a woman in the Kholodnohirskyi Ddistrict.
The Ukrainian Air Force (UAF) reported that they have been observing a “carousel pattern” of Russian aircraft dropping bombs targeting the City of Kharkiv.
“As for the tactics, we have been observing a number of Su-34 and Su-35 aircraft flying in a carousel pattern and practising by dropping several bombs towards Kharkiv. Of course, we immediately inform citizens about this via our platforms,” said Major Illia Yevlash, the Head of Public Relations of the UAF, on Channel 5.
The officer added that Kharkiv Oblast is currently under Russian attacks the most, with the Russians targeting Kharkiv Oblast not only with guided aerial bombs but also with S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems.
Earlier, ZMINA reported that Russians hit a residential area in Kharkiv on 25 May 2024, killing eighteen people and injuring 48 in the air strike.
Police in Kharkiv Oblast reported that a 12-year-old girl who was among the visitors to the commercial facility was among those killed. The body of 17-year-old Kyrylo, who was present at the home improvement hypermarket, Epicentr, when Russian forces attacked it, was found and identified using DNA samples on the morning of May 27, according to Serhii Bolvinov, Head of the Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine branch in Kharkiv Oblast.
On May 23, 2024, Russian forces delivered about 15 strikes with S-300/S-400 missiles on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, and the Kharkiv Oblast. The strikes hit the Vivat publishing house Faktor-Druck workshop, among other targets. In total, the attacks killed seven people and injured 22 more, according to Ukrainian officials.
Due to combined Russian Armed Forces attacks, the coalition of human rights organisations “Ukraine. 5 a.m.” appealed to partner countries to intensify their actions for providing air defense systems that should protect civilians and objects under the protection of international humanitarian law.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to world leaders who are still not on board with the Global Peace Summit to join the collective effort. He called on them to show leadership in advancing real peace, not just a pause between strikes.
Zelenskyy expressed confidence that the efforts of the global majority are the best guarantee that all commitments will be fulfilled.
Earlier, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksandr Lytvynenko, stated Ukraine realises that the war will end with negotiations; thus it is preparing and promoting President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s peace formula.
