Two women were killed as Russian forces launched an artillery attack on the town of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv Oblast with multiple-launch rocket systems on the morning of April 13, 2025, according to the Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration .

The women were killed in the garden of a five-story building. The bombardment also set fire to structural parts of a garage covering an area of 10 m².

The War & Sanctions project of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) reported that Russian Shahed attack drones reduce dependence on US components for electronic warfare systems.

The DIU has published information on almost 200 new parts and components used in six types of Russian weapons.

Among them are a Russian Shahed’s CRP antenna, a North Korean KN-24 ballistic missile, a computer from the Kh-47 Kinzhal missile, and Supercam S350, Gerbera, and Zala UAVs.

The intelligence service found only two US-made chips in the new CRP antennas for the Geran-2 (Geranium-2) drone. This indicates Russia’s attempts to reduce its dependence on components from countries that have imposed sanctions against it.

Earlier, the DIU reported that new jamming antennas with Chinese language labeling emerged in the Shahed drones used in 2025. Out of the 15 components within one of these antennas, only two come from American companies: Texas Instruments and Linear Technologies.

Chinese manufacturers produce most of the other parts, including transceivers, generators, signal converters, and other chips. For example, the Beijing Microelectronics Technology Institute (BMTI) manufactures the main chip of the CRP antenna, which analyzes incoming signals and decides which ones to ignore.

For the first time, investigators discovered a component made in India – a clock buffer from Aura Semiconductor – in Russian weapons.

The DIU noted that they have not yet identified the manufacturers of two other components, but they are likely to be of Chinese origin.

The components in the Weapons Section of the War & Sanctions website have already recorded 4,672 parts found in 164 weapons used by Russia against Ukraine.

Earlier, the Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group of Forces reported that the Russian military attempted to replenish units on the Kharkiv front after suffering losses and is preparing to resume assault operations.
