Russians drop aerial bombs on Bilopillia: man killed, his daughter seriously injured
According to the Sumy Oblast Military Administration and the Sumy Oblast Prosecutor’s Office, Russian Armed Forces dropped a guided aerial bomb (GAB) on the city of Bilopillia, the Sumy Oblast, on the afternoon of August 18, killing one person and injuring another.
The Sumy Oblast Prosecutor’s Office reported that the bomb struck a private house, killing its 33-year-old owner and seriously injuring his 11-year-old daughter. Additionally, a 55-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man were injured in the attack.
To provide context, on the evening of August 15, Russian Armed Forces dropped two bombs on the civilian infrastructure in Krasnopillia hromadaі of the Sumy district. As a result, a man was killed and two more people were injured.
Russians also damaged the premises of a local enterprise and the vehicles of its employees.
Russian strikes killed four civilians in the Donetsk oblast on August 18.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening address that it was necessary to speed up the supply of weapons and ammunition from Ukraine’s partners, which, in particular, requires timely logistics of the announced packages.
“There is a need for faster delivery of supplies from our partners. We strongly ask for this. There are no vacations in war. Decisions are needed, as is timely logistics for the announced aid packages. I especially address this to the United States, the United Kingdom, and France,” the president said.
Ukraine’s Ambassador to Germany, Oleksii Makieiev, urged Berlin in a comment to the German newspaper Bild not to cut military aid to Kyiv. He noted that European security depends on Germany’s political will to continue playing a leading role in supporting Ukraine.
On 17 August, the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung reported that the German federal government’s current budget planning does not include provisions for further funding to support Ukraine.
At Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s request, no further applications from Germany’s Federal Defence Ministry for military assistance to Ukraine will be approved.
