At least five people were killed and 32 others wounded as Russia struck five regions across eastern and southern Ukraine over the past 24 hours, according to the National Police of Ukraine and the heads of the local Oblast Military Administrations.

The Sumy Oblast Military Administration and Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President, reported that Russians deliberately struck a local health care facility with a drone in Sumy, causing the roof of a perinatal center to catch fire. At the time of the strike, 166 people were inside the center, including 11 children and 35 patients. There were no casualties from the Russian attack, as everyone was safely in a shelter.

Russian forces struck Chornobaivka in the Kherson region on the morning of October 6, wounding five people. The wounded include an 18-year-old girl and a woman who were at a stadium at the time of the strike, as well as a young child. Separately, a Russian strike on Stepanivka killed a 69-year-old woman who sustained fatal injuries.

At least four civilians were wounded in Kharkiv following a Russian nighttime strike. Kharkiv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office reported about separate war crimes in Kharkiv Oblast on October 5, in which Russians killed two men and injured a volunteer.

Investigators said a Russian loitering munition, reportedly of the Molniya type, struck a car traveling along a road in the Kupiansk district at around noon on October 5. The driver, a 37-year-old woman who is a volunteer, sustained injuries.

Later the same day, at approximately 2 p.m., an FPV drone hit a vehicle in the village of Kolodiazne, also in the Kupiansk district. Two men aged 50 and 35 were killed.

Under the procedural supervision of the Kupiansk District Prosecutor’s Office, law enforcement representatives launched pre-trial investigations under Articles 438.1 and 438.2 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code for violations of the laws and customs of war.

The Russian army also attacked energy infrastructure in one of Kharkiv’s Districts.

“The aggressor country continues terrorist strikes on energy infrastructure. A massive drone raid was carried out on one of Kharkiv’s Districts last night,” the Kharkivoblenergo company said in a statement. Kharkivoblenerho specialists immediately began eliminating the consequences of the enemy attack as soon as the security situation permitted.

Moreover, the Russian military struck an energy facility in the Ichnia District of the Chernihiv Oblast on the night of October 5 to 6, the Chernihivoblenerho press service reported.

“The enemy shelled the Ichnia area overnight. Unfortunately, we have another hit on an energy facility,” the company said in a statement. Repair crews have begun restoring the facility, but the company noted that the work will be carried out with the security situation in mind.

In the Odesa region, Russians hit an infrastructure facility, but there were no casualties or injuries. Russia also struck an infrastructure facility in the Fastiv district of the Kyiv Oblast.

The day before, Russians killed one civilian and wounded two other people in Kherson.

According to Ukraine’s Air Force, the Russian military attacked Ukraine with 116 drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and other types, on the night of October 5-6. As of 09:00, Ukrainian air defence forces had destroyed or jammed 83 Russian drones across the country’s north, south, east, and centre. Ukrainian forces recorded hits by 30 UAVs at seven locations.

Earlier, Bohdan Bernatskyy, a member of the Sanctions Policy Working Group of the Crimean Platform Expert Network, revealed at the Third Parliamentary Summit in Latvia that over 1,300 Russian military companies and 2 million industrial workers continue to operate, many without international restrictions.

As is known, ChinaNorth KoreaIndia, and Brazil also assist Moscow in killing citizens of Ukraine in Russia’s war, including funding the Russian budget through trade.

Oleh Aleksandrov, representative of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, in an interview with Ukrinform news agency, has reported that North Korea currently provides between 35% and 50% of Russia’s ammunition needs (200,000-260,000 shells of 152 mm and 122 mm calibers per month).

He also disclosed that Pyongyang has delivered to Russia launchers and short-range ballistic missiles KN-23 and KN-24, which Russian forces are using to attack Ukrainian cities.

According to Aleksandrov, Russia and North Korea are using the war in Ukraine to test and improve the characteristics of North Korean weapons on the battlefield. This includes the modernized version of the Soviet Konkurs anti-tank missile system (the North Korean version is known as Phoenix-2), the Bulsae-4 long-range self-propelled anti-tank missile system, and the 600-mm caliber KN-25 multiple rocket launch system.

The intelligence service estimates that between 8,500 and 13,000 North Korean troops are currently stationed in Russia’s Kursk Oblast. This enables Russia to reassign an equivalent number of its own troops to the war against Ukraine.

The service also reported that in September, 1,000 North Korean troops arrived in Kursk Oblast, in line with Pyongyang’s announcement that it would send an additional force to the region comprising 1,000 sappers and 5,000 military construction workers.

The Kremlin is also actively employing North Korean laborers to offset workforce shortages caused by mobilization. The intelligence service reports that over 17,800 North Korean workers are currently employed in Russia. Efforts are also underway to bring in another 26,000 workers, with 6,000 reportedly intended for construction work in temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine.
