As a result of Russian shelling on February 4, 2026, 14 civilians were killed in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kherson regions, while nearly four dozen others were injured, including in the Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, and Sumy regions, according to the National Police of Ukraine.

Emergency workers in protective gear clear debris at a destroyed open-air market in Druzhkivka following a Russian missile strike. Shattered stalls, twisted metal, and scattered goods are visible against the backdrop of damaged buildings. Casualties from Russian strikes the previous day included:

  • Eight people in Druzhkivka, the Donetsk Oblast, where aerial bombs, drones, and multiple launch rocket systems struck a market near residential buildings;
  • A woman and a man, who were killed during a nighttime enemy attack, in the Vasylkivka “hromada,” a local government area that includes one or more nearby settlements;
  • A nurse from Oleksandrivka, killed by a drone strike on an ambulance;
  • A man from Beryslav, the Kherson Oblast, whom the Russians also killed with a drone;
  • A man from Antonivka, the Kherson Oblast, which Russia struck with artillery.

Also in the Kherson region, the death of a resident of the Dnipro District of the regional center became known. He was 52 years old and died from wounds following an enemy artillery strike.

In addition to the killed, dozens more people received injuries, mostly in the Donetsk region. At least 21 people in the oblast suffered because of Russian attacks, and among them, the majority are residents of Druzhkivka and people from Kramatorsk, Kindrativka, and Dobropillia.

In the Kherson Oblast, February 4 passed with five victims, among whom were a man in Oleksandrivka, a local woman from Ukrainka, and a city resident from Kherson. Their injuries are the consequence of the use by the Russian military of drones of various types.

Seven civilians were injured in the Sumy Oblast, and the most in the Shostka District — three men aged 45, 60, and 69, and three women aged 31, 41, and 55.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, among the victims due to enemy strikes are four, including a 15-year-old boy. Likewise, four civilians suffered in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast: a female city resident from Zaporizhzhia and three in Vozdvyzhivka.

In the Odesa region, which was one of the targets of the Russian shelling on the night of February 4, four victims were known.

As a reminder, on February 3, Russian military strikes across Ukraine killed seven people.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian human rights lawyer and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Oleksandra Matviichuk has criticized U.S. President Donald Trump over a rise in civilian war casualties in Ukraine since he took office in 2025.

Nobel Peace Prize laureate pointed out that the number of Ukrainian civilians killed or injured because of the war rose by 31% compared to the previous year. She asked why Trump’s year of negotiations was the deadliest for Ukraine’s civilian population since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

“Why did Putin not allow himself such brutal strikes on civilian infrastructure under Biden, whom Trump calls ‘weak,’ but totally destroys peaceful cities and disregards the ‘strong Trump’?” she asekd on her Facebook page

U.S. Republican Congressman Don Bacon has called on X to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and provide it with long-range weapons amid Russia’s large-scale attacks. Bacon noted that Ukraine has managed to halt Russia’s advance on the battlefield and that over the past month, Russian occupation forces have lost some of their positions.

He also highlighted Russia’s high casualty rates, saying that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is “losing 1,000+ soldiers a day in his war of choice.”

“Thus, like Hitler, he’s resorted to bombing cities and terrorizing civilians. The U.S. must provide more air defenses and long-range strike weapons,” Bacon stressed.
