The Donetsk Oblast Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into another war crime after a video surfaced showing a Russian soldier shooting a civilian on the Pokrovsk front in the Donetsk Oblast.

A video was discovered on a Telegram channel showing a Russian Federation serviceman with a white armband opening fire at a civilian in the area of Rodynske in the Pokrovsk District. The soldier is then seen approaching the victim, who is lying on the road, inspecting them, and fleeing the scene of the crime.

Law enforcement officials are carrying out urgent investigative actions to establish all the circumstances of the event and to identify the Russian military personnel involved in the commission of the crime.

The incident was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations as a war crime resulting in a person’s death (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Oblast Prosecutor’s Office, investigators from the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions are conducting the pre-trial investigation.

Only a few days before, the Donetsk Oblast Prosecutor’s Office reported that at 22:55 on August 11, Russians killed a 43-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman and injured seven others, including a child, in Russia’s strikes on the town of Bilozerske in the Donetsk Oblast. Russian military hit a residential area, where civilians were in their homes, with FAB-250 bombs fitted with unified gliding and correction modules. Russian FAB bombs damaged eight apartment buildings and six cars.

Russian forces killed one person and wounded two others in two strikes on Druzhkivka in the Donetsk Oblast, at around 4 a.m. and 5 a.m.,  August 10, according to the Ukrainian National Police in Donetsk Oblast. Police said the attacks damaged at least five houses and two civilian vehicles.

Earlier, the Head of the Donetsk Oblast Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, reported that the number of people killed in the Russian missile strike on a five-story apartment building in Kramatorsk, on July 31, rose to seven.

On the afternoon of 31 July, Russian forces launched a targeted strike on a five-storey apartment block. Half of the building was completely destroyed.

Ukraine urges the international community to unite to restore global security under the UN Charter and strengthen sanctions against Russia to enforce this country’s compliance with international law. Following Russia’s initial invasion in 2014, Ukraine has pursued the liberation of its territories within its internationally recognized 1991 borders while developing comprehensive reintegration strategies and policies for all liberated areas.

U.S. President Donald Trump didn’t impose harsh sanctions on Russia on August 8, as he had earlier promised.

European Union member states are working on new sanctions against Russia and additional support for the Ukrainian military, even as they lend their support to peace negotiations led by the United States.
