Russian drone attack kills civilian in Ukraine’s Chernihiv Oblast

Russian armed forces attacked Ukraine with assault drones from the north on June 21, 2025, killing a man in Nizhyn District in the Chernihiv Oblast, according to Nizhyn Mayor Oleksandr Kodola and Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Chernihiv Oblast Military Administration. 

 

Kodola reported at 7:24 p.m. that the city was under a Russian drone attack.

“So far, we have identified 10 explosions on the outskirts of the city and one explosion outside the hromadaі , in a neighboring settlement. We are currently gathering information about the aftermath of the attack,” he wrote. 

Viacheslav Chaus reported at 8:52 p.m. that a man was killed in the Russian attack on the Nizhyn district.

On the evening of June 12, Russian army personnel killed a 46-year-old resident in an FPV drone strike in a border village in Novhorod-Siverskyi District in the Chernihiv Oblast, according to Chaus

Chaus reported that Russians struck the border village with an FPV drone. The attack killed a 46-year-old civilian man, a resident of this village.

On the night of June 4-5, Russians conducted a large-scale drone attack on Pryluky in the Chernihiv Oblast, killing at least five people, including a one-year-old baby, according to Chaus and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine

 

The State Emergency Service reported that the strikes caused large-scale fires in the residential area. That day, the attack destroyed two houses, two garages, one outbuilding, and a car.

Previously, Bohdan Bernatskyy, a member of the Sanctions Policy Working Group of the Crimean Platform Expert Network, revealed at the Third Parliamentary Summit in Latvia that over 1,300 Russian military companies and 2 million industrial workers continue to operate, many without international restrictions.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his latest evening address, said that Ukraine is grateful to everyone who enforces truly strong sanctions against Russia and blocks schemes that enable trade with Russia. 

The Ukrainian president announced that he has assigned separate work to the global corporate sector, particularly those maintaining connections between the Russian energy and defence industries and the world.
