Russia conducts 114 attacks on Sumy region in one day: one person killed, two injured
Over the past day, Russians carried out 114 shellings of the Sumy region’s border area, resulting in one death and two injuries, according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
In the Bilopillia hromadaі , Russians dropped explosive devices from UAVs and shelled with mortars and FPV drones. The attack injured a civilian and damaged a car.
In the Seredyna-Buda community, Russians dropped explosive devices from UAVs and carried out strikes with FPV drones. The shelling damaged a multi-story residential building. A mortar attack killed a civilian.
In the Myropillia hromada, Russians launched KABs and struck with an FPV drone. A drone strike on a vehicle carrying bread injured a civilian.
Colonel Andrii Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, reported on air during the national joint 24/7 newscast that Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups continue to attempt to cross the border of Ukraine in Sumy Oblast and place mines in the area.
He specified that these actions are most actively observed in the northern part of the region, although other border sections within Sumy Oblast remain vulnerable to similar incursions.
Additionally, Demchenko said that Russians are using small assault forces to concentrate their forces and expand active hostilities towards Novenke and Zhuravka. He added that Ukrainian border guards and armed forces units are targeting Russian infantry groups that have entered or are near the Ukrainian border.

By way of background, law enforcement officers recovered the bodies of a man, 55, and his wife, 65, from a ruined house in the village of Bilovody in the Sumy Oblast on December 11, 2024, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb, after a video conference of the “coalition of the willing”, stated that Russia is trying to play a long game in Ukraine but does not genuinely want a ceasefire or peace.
