Petition for LGBT rights protection filed to President

Ukrainians are urged to support the petition for protection of the LGBT community members from discrimination.

Project Manager at Freedom House Zorian Kis posted this on his Facebook page.

Yesterday, he published a screenshot of the e-petitions page, where the petition titled “The Constitution of Ukraine must guarantee LGBT people protection from discrimination” gained 275 votes, while the petition titled “To prohibit promotion of homosexuality in Ukraine” gained 480 votes.

Zorian Kis asks his friends and followers to support the petition against discrimination of the LGBT community.

My friends, your support in this competition is very important. It is struggle for values. The front line passes through the website of the e-petitions to the President. I rely on you! Today we must catch up and outrun the opponents!” He wrote.

The petition, initiated by Zorian Kis, urges to protect the community representatives and to include sexual orientation and gender identity in the list of the attributes, on which discrimination is prohibited.

To do this, you need:

  1. Sign up with the website
  2. Check your inbox (and your spam folder!) and confirm your registration
  3. Go to the website and sign the petition Currently, the petition to ban gay propaganda has gained 553 votes, while the petition to protect the LGBT people from discrimination has gained 545 votes.

Three months are given to collect signatures. Pursuant to the law, the President of Ukraine shall consider the petition, if it collects 25,000 votes within this period.
