NSDC wants to introduce biometric control for foreigners
The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, chaired by the President, initiated the introduction of biometric control for foreigners crossing the Ukrainian border.
As reported on the President’s website.
“This means the increase of control over the entry and exit of foreign citizens – we introduce biometric control for all citizens who cross the Ukrainian border”, – the press-service quotes President Poroshenko.
“We must take biometric data, including fingerprints and digital photo. This will increase our capabilities to fight terrorism”, – Poroshenko said.
He expressed confidence that the public would support and understand the given decisions.
Poroshenko noted that his instruction on the preparation of the relevant draft documents had been completed. He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Border Service would provide information on this issue at the NSDC meeting on Monday.
“We will allocate the necessary amount of time for the country to be prepared well so that law-abiding citizens do not feel any inconveniences”, – Petro Poroshenko stressed.
In addition, the President noted that there is a need to allocate necessary funds for the State Border Service in order to ensure technical implementation of the given decision.
He addressed the Minister of Internal Affairs to take the given issue under personal control and provide the necessary equipment to all border-crossing points for recording biometric data.
