Poklonskaya files lawsuit to ban Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people
Prosecutor of the Russian occupying authorities in Crimea Natalya Poklonskaya has filed a lawsuit to the Russian Supreme Court of Crimea with the request to ban the activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
As TASS Russian news agency reports, Poklonskaya handed over a copy of the lawsuit to Deputy Head of the Mejlis Nariman Dzhelyal.
The document says that the lawsuit was filed on the basis of “applications from the Crimean Tatar people asking to recognize the activities of the Mejlis unlawful.”
Head of Mejlis, Ukrainian MP Refat Chubarov was previously put on wanted list in Russia. Former head of the Mejlis Mustafa Dzhemilev was banned from entering the territory of Russia. There is no response of the Mejlis leaders to the lawsuit of Poklonskaya so far.
Today, the Russian “Memorial” human rights center has recognized the defendants in the “February 26 case” (Ahtem Chiygoz, Ali Asanov and Mustafa Degermendzhy) as political prisoners.
