The Parliament of Ukraine passed the bill on state registration of legal entities, sole proprietors, and community groups in the second reading.

The law significantly simplifies the registration of non-governmental organizations, believes expert of the USAID project “Citizens in Action” Anastasia Shymchuk.

First, the registration of NGOs and charitable organizations, as well as introducing amendments to their charter documents will be free from now on.

Second, the registration should take up to three working days for NGOs and up to one working day for charitable organizations.

Third, the registration of NGOs will be much easier and will occur in accordance with the law on state registration of legal entities, sole proprietors, and community groups. The liquidation proceeding will be also simplified.

Fourth, the law clearly stipulates that the founders of the organization lose their “special” role immediately after registration of the NGOs. This simplifies the work of the organizations as the registrars will no longer require various documents from the founders who may withdraw from the organization or even die.
