Late on October 1, the Russian military launched a missile strike on the center of Balakliya in the Kharkiv region.

The strike killed an elderly woman and injured nine other people. The victims included a 9-year-old girl who suffered an acute stress reaction.

Earlier, ZMINA reported that on September 30, three civilians were killed and more than 30 others were injured in Donetsk, Dnipro, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions, particularly in the Sumy region.

Russia began systematically attacking railway infrastructure and energy facilities as Ukraine’s heating season approached this year. The OSCE and the UN have already warned about the threat of a blackout in Ukraine this year, and they do not rule out attacks on nuclear power plants.
