Ukrainian Minister for Occupied Territories wants to resume railroad passenger service with occupied Donbas
Vadym Chernysh, the Minister of Ukraine for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced, advocates resuming railroad passenger service with the uncontrolled territories of Donbas.
He said this in an interview with the Focus Ukrainian magazine.
“There is no single political stance on this issue. I believe we need to keep in touch with people on the uncontrolled territory, because they are our fellow citizens… I do not see any significant difference between crossing the demarcation line by car or by train. I hope that the security formula for resuming railroad service will be found,” he said.
At the same time, Chernysh noted that the issue of security was the main obstacle to making the final decision.
As reported, freight rail transportation across the demarcation line in Donbas conflict zone was restored on June 25, 2016.
